Huge Grant Boosts Campaign

No doubt about it: The Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation’s recent $4 million grant to the Centennial Campaign for Excellence marks a high point in the ambitious efforts to raise $25 million for Alta Bates Summit’s new Cardiovascular, Oncology and Women & Infants Centers of Excellence plus a number of its ongoing community programs.“This is the largest current commitment ever received by the Alta Bates Summit Foundation,” says Campaign Chairman Darrell Sooy, adding that the grant will primarily be used to purchase equipment for the Cardiovascular and Women & Infants Centers of Excellence and the Carol Ann Read Breast Health Center. “We’re thrilled with this historic commitment to support health care in our community.”

More good news: Chevron has pledged nearly $50,000 in funds and equipment to benefit the Culinary Arts Program at Thunder Road, a campaign beneficiary. Even better news: With these donations and the many others received, campaign fundraising now totals $20.5 million.
