Construction proceeds ahead of schedule this fall on the Carol Ann Read Breast Health Center (CARBHC). The new facility, on the first floor of the Summit Campus’ Providence Pavilion, will feature an array of comprehensive services unmatched by any East Bay medical center and is the beneficiary of Alta Bates Summit Foundation’s single largest philanthropic effort since the merger — totaling more than $12.5 million.
“So far, this entire project is moving very smoothly, and we look forward to the center being open in the first quarter of 2008,” says Sylvia Carter, co-chair of the Campaign for CARBHC. Alta Bates Summit has engaged a respected interior designer, Jain Malkin, who is an expert in designing medical facilities that put the patient first, adds Carter. “We want to make sure women are immediately at ease when they come.”
