This
year’s Celebrity Golf and Tennis Classic is sure
to be a hit—and a big boost to Alta Bates Summit’s
fight against breast cancer.
Since its inception in 1992, the
Celebrity Classic has raised more than $2 million to
benefit vital hospital services, according to Steve
Lundin, Foundation President and CEO. “The enormous
success of the event is due to its being unique in the
area and serving such a great cause,” says Lundin.
“The community and hospital are working hand in
hand.”
You can still get tickets for the
September 20th tennis tournament, regarded as the country’s
No. 1 celebrity tennis tournament. Join a capacity crowd
of 1,000-plus at the Berkeley Tennis Club to view legends
Virginia Wade and Tracy Austin, court wizard Vic Braden,
and 30 other celebrity headliners. (Past tourneys featured
all-time greats Rod Laver, Stan Smith and Roy Emerson
and celebrities Kristi Yamaguchi and Rick Barry.) The
star-studded gala dinner at the Claremont Resort and
Spa tops off the occasion.
FYI: Our September 8th golf tourney
at the Diablo Country Club, a perennial sellout, included
a round of golf, lunch, and the gala dinner. (Past years’
celebrities included Bobby Bonds and Vida Blue.)
