Campaign Goal in Sight

The way Centennial Campaign Chair Darrell Sooy sees it, things are looking good for the ambitious efforts under way to raise $25 million for Alta Bates Summit’s new Cardiovascular, Oncology and Women & Infants Centers of Excellence, plus a number of its ongoing community programs. “We’re exceedingly pleased with where we are right now,” says Sooy, “having raised $15.1 million midway through the campaign.”

At the annual Heroes in Health Care Philanthropy awards dinner on May 12, the campaign kicked off its public phase and broadened its appeals. “Alta Bates Summit is a large, not-for-profit institution that relies upon community support to fund vital technology and facility needs,” says Sooy. “In the coming year, we’re looking forward to approaching physicians, employees and people in the greater East Bay who have a vested interest in maintaining health care excellence in our community. It’s a focused effort to continue to attract the generous community support that we have received for decades.”
